Every purchase completes on Spaceship SellerHub, our partner marketplace, which takes your payment, holds the domain during transfer and delivers it to your account. All messages about a purchase go through Spaceship SellerHub. This page walks you through each step, so you know exactly what happens, and when, from checkout to the moment the domain is yours.

What happens after you click Checkout

    You click "Checkout" in your basket and arrive on the name's page on SellerHub.

    Every name in your basket has its own Checkout button, which opens that name on Spaceship SellerHub, the partner marketplace, in a new tab. Nothing is bought on this site; the button simply takes you there.

    You create or sign in to a Spaceship account and pay in USD.

    Card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, wire or BTCPay. The payment is held by the marketplace, not released to the seller, until the transfer is complete.

    The domain is moved into the marketplace's custody for transfer.

    SellerHub takes the domain from my account into its own safekeeping, so it is held securely for you throughout the transfer.

    You receive the transfer and confirm the domain is yours.

    The domain lands in your Spaceship account, or you receive an authorisation code to move it to your own registrar. You confirm when it is in your hands.

    Only then is the payment released to the seller. The wordmark files arrive by email.

    Once you have confirmed, the marketplace releases the payment. I send the SVG wordmark, the colour suggestion and the story for your own use.

How long it takes

Transfers complete in less than 48 hours.

If something stalls

Contact SellerHub support through the transaction. You can also write to the Professor from the contact page, and he replies within one business day.

Every sale is final

Once a purchase is complete it cannot be cancelled or refunded, and once the domain is transferred to you, it is yours. Until then, escrow protects your payment: the marketplace releases it only after the domain is in your account.

From the basket to the checkout

Every name carries one listed price, the same for every buyer, and the price is not negotiated. Add the names you like to your basket from their pages or from the catalogue; the basket keeps them while you look around.

Each name is then bought on its own: its "Checkout" button in the basket opens that name's checkout on Spaceship SellerHub, and the purchase follows exactly the five stages above. You pay the marketplace, it holds the payment, the domain moves to you, you confirm, and only then am I paid.

  • A registered trademark
  • A company registration

A trademark can only be applied for by an operating business, for its own goods and in its own territories, so no name here is pre-registered. The terms set out what is sold.

Why the Professor stays in character

I am a character, and I say so plainly: Professor Brand is fictional. The catalogue is run under a persona by design, because names are easier to judge on their own merits than on the biography of whoever happens to be selling them.

That is also why every purchase passes through the partner marketplace's escrow. You never pay me directly, the domain is held safely until it is in your account, and the money moves only when you confirm. Questions are always answered, usually within the day.

Prices are set in US dollars (USD). Amounts shown in other currencies are for reference only, based on Frankfurter (ECB) rates as of the date shown under the currency selector, and may differ from the final amount charged. Payment is taken in USD on our partner marketplace (Spaceship SellerHub); the exchange rate applied and any foreign transaction fees are determined by your bank or card provider.

Questions, answered plainly

What are the 119, Premium and Diamond Clubs?

Three shelves of one catalogue. 119 Club names are $119 each, fixed, and can be bought today. Premium Club names are priced between $500 and $10,000. Diamond Club names are priced above $10,000. Every name carries one listed price, the same for every buyer.

How are names chosen?

For a business, not for a catalogue. I begin with the sector, then the core of the business, then the product itself, then the language. A name that passes all four earns a place here, and every name also passes six plain tests, listed under How names are chosen.

Does the name come with a trademark?

No. A trademark can only be registered by an operating business, for specific goods, in specific territories, so no catalogued name can be pre-registered. Each name is screened for obvious conflicts before listing; a search in your own sector and territory is still your job, and I recommend a professional for it.

What exactly do I receive?

The domain registration, transferred to your account; an SVG wordmark with a colour suggestion; and the story and rationale for your own use. You own the .com and the wordmark.

How does escrow work?

You pay Spaceship SellerHub, the partner marketplace. It holds the payment while the domain moves to your account, and releases it to me only after you confirm.

How long does transfer take?

Less than 48 hours. The marketplace moves the domain into its custody, then into your account; you confirm; the payment is released.

Can I cancel?

No. Every sale is final: once a purchase is complete it cannot be cancelled or refunded, and once the domain is transferred to you, it is yours. Until the transfer completes, your payment is held safely in escrow by the partner marketplace.

Do you check names for conflicts?

Yes, for obvious ones: clear infringement of well-known marks and misspellings of popular domains are not listed. If a conflict comes to light after listing, the name is withdrawn. This screening is not a legal opinion.

Who is Professor Brand?

A fictional character who curates this catalogue and answers every enquiry in his own voice. The marketplace is run under a persona by design, and every transaction passes through the partner marketplace's escrow so your payment and the domain are protected at every step.

Can I negotiate the price?

No. Every name carries one listed price, the same for every buyer, and it is set for what the name can carry. Add it to your basket and buy it there; the purchase completes on Spaceship SellerHub through escrow, like every other.
