The story

A negotiation can end in one of two ways, and nobody prints the bad one on a folder. Negosh8 puts the good ending first. The name is the verb negotiate, clipped to seven characters: the middle written the way it sounds, the last syllable handed over to the number 8. It reads like a note slid across a table, which is roughly where the work happens.

A folder, a pen and a coffee: the props of a meeting that might go well

It is a name for the people who sit in the middle. An estate agent bridging a seller's hopes and a buyer's mortgage offer. A trading agency arguing over freight terms and payment dates. A consultant called in when two parties have stopped returning each other's calls. Each of them sells the same thing: a better agreement than the client would have reached alone. Negosh8 says so without a single adjective.

The mock-up keeps it on the desk. A navy presentation folder carries the mark, a handshake framed by two open brackets in shades of blue, with the wordmark beneath and the 8 picked out in pale aqua. Beside it, a white mug wears the same handshake, and a pen waits on the polished wood. The brackets are the clever touch. They suggest a clause, a parenthesis, the small space inside which terms get agreed.

Why it works

For estate agents, trading houses and consultancies, negotiation is the work itself, so a name that is the verb wastes no time explaining. The respelling makes a dry word feel quick and current, the way a deal feels when it starts to move. The handshake in the logo states the outcome, which is what clients are paying for.

Who this suits

  1. An estate agency that wants its name to say what it does at the table, in seven characters
  2. A commodity trading agency negotiating freight, pricing and payment terms for importers
  3. A consultancy that trains sales teams and procurement managers to negotiate better
